  • Better Not Bitter Society provides community-based education and peer support services that promote mental health, reduce stigma, and build inclusive belonging benefiting the general public and underserved and equity seeking communities across Canada.

What We Do

  • We deliver community-based programs that reduce mental health stigma through education, storytelling, and lived-experience leadership.

  • We create safe, inclusive spaces where individuals can share their experiences, build resilience, and access peer-based support that strengthens mental well-being and belonging.

  • Our work transforms lived experience into public education, community connection, and measurable social impact, ensuring individuals are not isolated while navigating life’s challenges.

Why We Do What We Do

  • Mental health stigma and social isolation remain significant barriers to well-being and community inclusion.

  • We do this work because shared understanding reduces stigma, strengthens connection, and improves mental health outcomes.

  • By transforming lived experience into education, dialogue, and peer support, we generate meaningful public benefit.
    Our work:

    • Expands access to inclusive mental health conversations

    • Strengthens community networks and support systems

    • Centers the voices of individuals impacted by systemic barriers

    • Contributes to long-term social change and community well-being
